It is impossible not to see Alain BRUNEAUX if you go to the village square of Vétheuil. Since 2004, he has been featured on the large mural, along with painters Claude MONET, Abel LAUVRAY, Jean-Paul RIOPELLE and Joan MITCHELL.
Alain BRUNEAUX is an impressionist painter of international renown born in Vernon. Pupil of Pierre MAUBERT, vernonet painter, and of louise DAMASSE - who was not only a great portraitist but also a great resistance fighter -, he is part of a movement that critics have called the school of Rouen or the Norman school.
Settled since 1975 in the village of Vétheuil, he continues to paint tirelessly in 2023 landscapes of which he has the secret: no one better than him knows how to make the colors of the sky and water luminous. Adept of painting on the ground, he has criss-crossed the nature to paint the most beautiful sites. He currently concentrates more on painting small formats that require an unstoppable technique and great meticulousness.
